Smead SmartStrip Alternative

I wrote about Smead’s discontinuation of its ColorBar label software last year. Since then, they have also stopped manufacturing SmartStrip labels. File Label Express has a SmartStrip replacement in our Simplicity Strip label.

What Were SmartStrip Labels?

Smead SmartStrip labels were a color-coded labeling system for organizing file folders and other office materials. These labels used color-coding technology, allowing users to easily create and customize labels with specific colors, text, and barcodes through a software program. Organizations used the labels in environments where quick identification and retrieval of files are essential, such as in legal, medical, and administrative offices.

Smead SmartStrip Replacement

Organizations used the SmartStrip system with Smead’s labeling software, which generated labels based on user input. Just as File Label Express is an excellent alternative to Smead ColorBar, Simplicity Strip labels are an excellent alternative to SmartStrip.
